Letter from Tacoma #75: April 3, 2017

Hey everybody!

So, the highlight of this week had to be General Conference! This one was awesome! So many good talks!

I was very excited to hear that a temple would be built in Saratoga Springs. I did not see that coming.😁

Probably one of my favorite talks this conference was Elder Rasband's talk about the Holy Ghost. This topic seemed to be a recurring topic this conference, but I liked Elder Rasband's specifically because of the line, "Follow the First prompting". That's something that I feel like I've needed to work on since I heard that. I'm always second-guessing myself whenever I think it could possibly be the spirit telling me to do something. Then his phrase, "Nine times out of ten, you will succeed when you follow the first prompting", gave me a lot of comfort. I'm feeling a little less fearful of trying it out as I work.

Oh, before I forget, here's some pictures from the past few weeks:

My new companion, Elder Stuart!

Woke up this morning, and found it so foggy we couldn't see the canal right next to our apartment!

This week wasn't too exciting, just full of anticipation for General Conference. We were only able to see one of our investigators this week, Gloria. We brought Bro. Knowles with us to the lesson with her this Thursday. We talked mainly about temples and family history, and as soon as we got talking about family history, Gloria just took off like a bullet talking about it. Clearly, she's very excited about her family and her ancestors, so I think that'll be a good way to further get her involved in the church. Before we left, we committed her to watch General Conference, so we'll be following up on that later this week.

We've got a few things to look forward to, though. Tomorrow, we'll be going on exchanges to Gig Harbor, which will be fun. And there's also district meeting.

One funny thing though, I keep running into people I met over a year ago while serving in Key Center. Like yesterday, we were watching general conference at the Key Center building. Nobody else was there, and after the morning session, we really had nowhere to go to get lunch, since we didn't want to buy lunch on the sabbath. But the bishop of Minter Creek invited us to lunch at his place. So, we went, but as I walked in, I suddenly recognized the house. I had been there before, while on exchanges to Minter Creek with the DL while they were still in that ward. Bishop Shirt came and shook our hands, welcoming us in. But when he got to me, he paused and asked, 'You seem familiar, have we met?' I laughed a little bit as I explained that we had. Just a funny experience, and they also made potstickers for lunch, one of my favorites.

Sorry, I don't have time to write more! Hope the trip in New Zealand is fun, and I hope you get home safely, Mom, Dad, and Brandon. Your trip looks like a lot of fun so far!

Exciting news for Ryan and Tia. I'm just going to throw my guess out there that the baby will be a girl.

Oh, and last thing, My new mailing address! I finally changed it at the bottom of my email, and here's the address just to clarify!
