Letter from Tacoma #78: April 24, 2017

Hey, Family! This week has been alright, but not much happened  in  the way  of  work. Every time we've tried to visit any  of  our investigators, they've all either been busy or sick. It kind  of  sucked. We had Zone Conference this week, and it was lots  of  fun. We spent a bit  of  it just doing roleplays for door approaches  in  front  of  everyone. The goal was to start up a conversation about a prop the 'potential invesigator' was holding, and then lead the conversation into talking about the gospel. There were some funny results, and I was one  of  the missionaries to get brought up there to do it. I think I did okay, but the elder I was working with  in  the roleplay used a baseball cap with some team logo on it. I really don't know that much about sports, so it was kind  of  difficult to get a conversation going. At zone conference, we focused on baptism and talke...

Letter from Tacoma #77: April 17, 2017

Wow, this week was a total contrast  from  the last one, because now I actually have stuff to write about and I'm pretty sure this will be a long letter! That's too bad about Kennady being  in  the hospital dealing with that, but I'm glad that she's feeling better! That house looks like a good one, Kelsey and Zac. Awesome find! Kyler! That's an awesome cake! I hope you liked that birthday party! Minecraft is awesome, I really miss it and I can't wait to play it again. Seriously, Katrina, you outdid yourself this time  in  putting it all together. Ooh, Katrina looks like her baby is coming soon! That's exciting! Brandon already had his Senior Send Off?! That's crazy. It can't have been that long that I've been gone, can it? Let me talk about my week: Monday: We emailed at the Gig Harbor library and then shopped for groceries. Then we all met at the Zone Leaders' apartment for Zone Activity. We followed them down to the bottom  of  the zone to ...

Letter From Tacoma #76: April 10, 2017

Forewarning: the computer i'm using today has a broken 'shift' key, which is annoying the absolute crap out of me, so i'm just dealing with it. so don't be surprised by the lack of capital letters. this was a decent week. nothing too exciting happened, but i blame spring break for that. there was a whole bunch of stuff going on in the lives of the people we're working with, so we weren't able to really see anyone. and with general conference last week, we hardly saw anyone from our own ward it seemed. feeling kind of lonely, but not really. still working hard, but as always, not a lot of rampant success in boonie areas. ooh, that reminds me, i have this talk/song on my flash drive that really fits with this easter season while on the mission. i had thought before about sending it home, so i might as well, seeing as i don't have a lot to put into this letter. you'll find a link to it at the bottom of the email. it's a couple of excerpts from talks...

Hey everybody! So, the highlight  of  this week had to be General Conference! This one was awesome! So many good talks! I was very excited to hear that a temple would be built  in  Saratoga Springs. I did not see that coming. Probably one  of  my favorite talks this conference was Elder Rasband's talk about the Holy Ghost. This topic seemed to be a recurring topic this conference, but I liked Elder Rasband's specifically because  of  the line, "Follow the  First  prompting". That's something that I feel like I've needed to work on since I heard that. I'm always second-guessing myself whenever I think it could possibly be the spirit telling me to do something. Then his phrase, "Nine times out  of  ten, you will succeed when you follow the first prompting", gave me a lot  of  comfort. I'm feeling a little less fearful  of  trying it out as I work. Oh, before I forget, here's some pictures  from  the ...
