Letter from Tacoma #52: October 24, 2016

Disney World looks awesome!!! I know I've been there before, but that was a super long time ago. But I do vaguely remember the jumping water fountains. That was fun.

I'm glad you all had a great trip! Nice Halloween costumes, by the way.

Oh yeah, and that package you sent to me? It has arrived safely... in Tacoma. I guess you sent it to the mission office's address, so I'm guessing that means I sent you my current location mailing address a tad bit late. Oops. But no need to worry. I should get it the next time the ZL's drop by Tacoma, which may be in a week or two... there isn't anything perishable in that package, is there? I hope not!

This week was pretty good:

Monday: After emailing, we ran to the Chism's and played some Dungeons & Dragons! I made a character for myself! I'm a sorcerer, and I have a pet weasel in the game. It was great, I almost died... multiple times. I had tons of fun, and we played it with Bro. Chism as the dungeon master, and his two daughters as the other players. Great FHE idea, just sayin'.

Tuesday: I.... I honestly can't remember what went on Tuesday... I think we stopped by Rosa's and helped her clean up the apartment a bit more. We're finally moving some furniture around to the cleaner parts and it's looking more livable. So.... that's good. It's weird how all the days I'm out here seem to just blur together even more with each passing week.

Wednesday: District Meeting! It went like usual, and the training was about asking inspired questions and teaching in the savior's way. I definitely struggle with asking people questions, because I just want to vomit information onto them because they don't know it. Afterwards we ran home, helped a less-active member toss out his tomato plants off his porch, and then Sister Ellsworth took us out to eat chinese at the Lucky Dragon! YUM!

That evening, after knocking 5-7's, we decided to stop by Diane's, since we hadn't seen her since last week. It was pitch black outside by then, and her porch lights weren't on either, so we felt our way up to the door and knocked. Suddenly, I see something jump in the window, shaking the curtains, and then we see Diane peer through the window, looking absolutely terrified! Apparently we had caught her in the middle of watching a horror film. LOLOL!

She loves having us visit. Apparently she's diagnosed with depression and is taking medication for it, but whenever we visit it helps her in that regard. We had a great discussion about the Plan of Salvation again, and we talked a bit more in depth about the pre-mortal existence, since that's her main stumbling block in that lesson. The more we talked about it, the more she seemed to understand, and the more she seemed to even accept it.

Thursday: UUUUUUGGH! Park Day! Weekly Planning Day. After weekly planning, Bro. Wikan picked us up and took us up to Rosa's to grab all the trash we cleaned up and then haul it off to the dump in Aberdeen. The whole job took us about 2 hours, including driving time. We filled up Bro. Wikan's trailer to the brim with trash, and it turns out we dumped over 600 pounds of trash, and that wasn't inluding the few tv sets we also dumped. It was ridiculous!

Afterwards we had dinner at Diane's, and we watched the Prophet of the Restoration DVD with her. We also left her a DVD of bible videos about Christ and His ministry. She really enjoyed that one, cause she watched the whole thing by the time Sunday rolled around.

Friday: We helped out at the Senior Center, serving Lunch. We ate a little there, and then right after we went to the Wikan's for another lunch/dinner. Then we really spent the whole day out tracting and talking to people. I high-fived a guy flying by on a moped. I felt awesome after that.

Saturday: MORE LOOKING FOR INVESTIGATORS! We spent all afternoon working up north, outside of Ocean Shores, but the houses up there are scattered, and almost all of the ones that are close together are vacation rentals. Nothing turned up, but it was a nice change of scene. We drove north to the Emry's for dinner (PAPA MURPHEY's PIZZA), but that drive is one of my favorite areas.

After dinner, we had to run at top speed down to Centrailia for a baptism! Elder MacQueen has a convert down there, whose husband was now getting baptized, so of course we had to go. It was a long drive, but we just barely got there on time. It was a great baptism, and Elder MacQueen saw a massive change in the guy since the last time he saw him. Great spiritual experience for everybody... And then another long drive home in the dark!

Sunday: I don't know what it was, but we had double the number of people in sacrament than usual. So that was fun. After church, Branch President Baron had us over for dinner, and he served T-bone steaks the size of my head! They were huge! SO MUCH MEAT! I couldn't finish half of it before we had to go knocking.

Then after knocking, we ended the evening by going to the Mcara's for an 'early FHE'. Bro. Mcara had just gotten sealed to his wife this week, so an old friend of his' had come to visit. His buddy (his name escapes me) had brought Dominion with him, so we played that almost the whole time. It was great! I haven't played it for two years, I think. Last time I did was with Ryan Seamons in California. It's such a fun game!

But that's all from me. We're planning on playing some more D&D at the Chism's after this.

I love you guys!
