Letter from Tacoma #32: June 6, 2016
Ugh.... Hot weather sucks!!
This has been the hotest weather I've ever felt in my life... maybe. It might have to do something with the fact that I'm out knocking doors and not just kicking it in an air conditioned home. Speaking of which, our apartment, like most buildings in older parts of Washington, doesn't have AC, including our apartment!
Yesterday was the worst! It got up to 100 degrees, maybe 105 during the worst part of the day. The week beforehand had been a consistant 80-90 range, but yesterday just took the cake. Even with all the windows on and fans blowing, I didn't get to sleep 'till about Midnight last night because I was sweating too much.
But I'm not going to complain too much, mostly because I heard it was even worse down south in Arizona. However, I will say I miss dry heat. In Utah, the shade is all you need to beat the heat. Out here, the humidity follows you into the shade and you just bake alive.
Though surprisingly, even though it was way hotter this week than last, our numbers were still remarkably better. We were a bit more productive, and it's all going good. And thankfully, today is better, weather-wise. I'm looking forward to another good week ahead.
I'm very glad to hear everything is still going fine back home. Now I've got siblings in Virginia, California, Arizona, and Utah. It's crazy how much changes when you're on a mission... of course, most of you probably know that already.
I loved the pictures of Kamryn and Kyler on the piano. I hope they like practicing it better than I did. I kind of wish I'd played piano more than I did, because it's fun being able to play a variety of songs, rather than measly three tunes I can play off the top of my head.
Hope you have a fun trip, Ryan! It sounds like you're having a mini high-venture camp!
Love you all!
Thanks for reading!
