Letter from Tacoma #101: October 2, 2017

Hey Everybody!!!   I'm doing good! Still same-old, same-old. Working hard, trying not to get trunky (kind of failing), and just having fun with it. It's really, really weird to think I go home this month... and yes, Dad, I'm looking forward to laying down some sod the weekend I get back. 😁

This week was pretty long, but in a good way. On Wednesday, we were about to start the day, but we suddenly got a text saying that our carpets were getting clean, and we only had three hours to get all of the furniture off the carpet before they arrived. This was bad news bears, because our apartment is two stories and mostly carpet. But with a little bit of rushing and playing tetris with it all, we got it all taken care of. Then once the carpet guys showed up we jetted and got to work for the day. It was way nice to get back and have a completely clean carpet waiting for you. It also gave us a nice opportunity to rearrange the furniture in a better orientation.

One of the best improvements that came from the rearrangement: We stacked our beds into a bunk bed. Best thing ever, just sayin'.

Thursday was the temple trip, which was probably the main highlight of the week. I feel like this time around I got more out of visiting the temple than I have before. I think part of that was because I actually prepared myself for it a little bit, and brought some questions to ask and think about while we were in there.

Funny story: I rented some clothing in the temple, and my district and I went together upstairs to change. But when I was changing, I realized the pants I got were too small! So I had to get back into my suit, and go back down to exchange the pair, and then go back up and change. By then, the rest of the mission had already finished changing, and my district was all like, 'Where did Moe go?!' When I got to the chapel, they were letting in the missionaries into the endowment session. But since my district was waiting for me, we were the last, and they didn't have enough room in the endowment room for us! So they had to do a separate session for my district and a couple other missionaries, which started half and hour later!😆 All this trouble because I should've asked for a 32 waist. LOL!

But to add a little more icing to the cake, this conference was awesome! I loved all the speakers, because it really sounded more direct this time. It's kind of scary how they have to be specific about some things, but I think it's good that they are more than willing to do so.

Personally I'd say my favorite talks were by President Eyring this time. Both in Priesthood and Sunday morning, he just seemed way jolly compared to his previous talks! It was very uplifting and I enjoyed them greatly.

The work is still the same in our area: Looking for some new investigators, working with Willy, visiting members so Elder Scow can actually know the ward before I depart.

Willy is doing awesome! He's been out of town a lot recently, but he says it's helping him stay away from his habit of having coffee in the morning. Right now he's in northern Idaho helping his cousin build a wood shed before the winter sets in (as well as any other jobs she has for him to do). I love that about Willy. He wants to always be busy, and he's a hard worker! He's out of town right now, but we're hoping to get him baptized next weekend before I go home. I sincerely think he can be ready by then, and I'm not just saying that because I want to end my mission with a baptism... even though that would be a really awesome experience.

So, now.... PICTURES!

Last P-Day we took a tour of the capitol building, as well as the TEMPLE OF JUSTICE (*epic movie trailer voice*) across the street from it.

The inside of the Capitol building is really cool! It just has such a powerful feeling in it.

More of a creepy side note: Our apartment has an attic, so we decided to pop our heads up there and see if there was anything up there. So we looked, and I was officially creeped out... in a good way, so it was pretty funny.
Anyways, thanks for reading!
Love you all!
AND SEE YOU SOON!!!
