Letter from Tacoma #88: July 3, 2017

Hey Everyone!!!

We had a way good week, albeit a very stressful one.

The biggest highlight would be Jennifer!!! She's probably the most awesome, solid investigator I've had! She's been to church every week, and she's willing to try everything we teach her. Last Saturday we visited her, and she's been struggling with coffee. So, she gave us all her coffee, so she wouldn't be tempted by it, and now she's replacing it with a cup of hot chocolate each morning. It seems to be working out for her.

She wants to be baptized on July 8th, this Saturday!!! So we're busy pulling that together. She's been taught all the lessons and been to church the required amount of time, so now she just needs to keep off of coffee and get a baptismal interview and she'll be completely ready. From the start, she's been mostly casual about it, thinking it'd just be a good idea. But this Friday she had an experience that changed the way she looked at it.

On Friday, Key Center (area next door to us) had a baptism, so we invited Jennifer to come see it. There was a huge struggle to get her there, cause it looked like any ride that we could think of from members was unavailable. But two hours before the baptism, the Staley's opened up their schedule and said they could give her a ride. Once there, Jennifer could really feel the spirit as she watched a little girl, age 8, be baptized. That was the perfect opportunity for us to point out to her that it was the spirit that she felt, why she felt so calm and happy. She told us that she had felt that way whenever she prayed, and we confirmed to her that that was the spirit as well... She was glad to hear that 'cause she thought she was going crazy for a second there.

So, that'll be the highlight of next week, so hopefully getting set up will be smooth enough that we can work it out.

The other highlight of this week is that, as of Friday, we have a new mission president, President Leishman!... It's weird having a new mission president. Last night we heard him speak over a conference call with the whole mission, and he sounds so young compared to President Blatter. We'll be meeting him in person tomorrow, 'cause the northern zones in the mission are getting together for a 4th of July picnic. So, P-day got moved to tomorrow, but we're given time to email today 'cause the library closes tomorrow for the holiday.

Other than that, everything's going good. I'm starting to get along better with Elder Stewart. I've learned to live with the annoying things he does and block them out. I'm a lot better mood now for most of the day... except for mornings. Still not a morning person.

Sorry, I didn't take very many pictures this week. This is actually the only one I took, just 'cause it was funny.

Just something we found on someone's porch. Sorry for the crudeness, but it got a laugh out of me, just 'cause someone actually went out of their way to build it.

That's really about it for me, plus I don't have as much time as I usually do!
Love you all, and thanks for reading!
