Letter from Tacoma #35: June 27, 2016

 Hey, Everybody!

So, first off, wow that sounded like one heck of a trip, Mom! The view looks cool and all, but I think I'm gonna have to agree with Robin on the fact that I like camping in the cold climate better. No scorpians, no sheer cliffs, and no human-baking temperatures. But I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves and that nobody got hurt.

And haha, yeah, I get the joke, but I don't think I'll ever get a Toyota Tacoma. I'm not a big truck fan.

But I am a fan of that blue hair, Krista!😁 It may be just cause I'm an anime fan and they have a wide assortment of hair colors there, but I think it looks cool. The funny thing though is that not too long ago, I was contemplating dying my hair in time for Halloween next year after I'm home from the mission. I think I'd go with a dark, crimson red color. What do you think? Would that look good on me?

Oh! and speaking of home, I'm excited to see Finding Dory when I can! It looks like it's a big hit from all the pictures.

Yeah, so this week was actually pretty slow, so there's not much to talk about here besides the actual work itself. But that's the best part this week had to offer.

Right now we have a few investigators that I think are just awesome. They've been progressing, and as of this last week working with them, I have even more hope for all of them.

First, we have Jordan, who just finished his Junior year in High School. We found him through knocking doors and we were able to teach him the Restoration when we first met him on his doorstep. We saw him again last Thursday and were able to teach the Plan of Salvation, which he seemed to understand fairly well. But the best part was the fact that while we were finishing the Plan of Salvation, both his brother and his Mom came out and listened in on the end of it. Then we got in a discussion about different beliefs, but the overall topic came down to faith and how to find it.

The brother of Jordan (LOL, didn't even mean to do that), brought up having some trouble believing he could pray and somebody would hear him, and he feels like he's just talking to nothing. But we shared with him out of Alma 32, regarding what faith is and how you can obtain a faith in Christ with even just a desire to believe.

I think we gave them a lot to think about, and we committed them to pray, which they agreed to. We'll see how they've done with that when we see them again.

Then we've also got a lady by the name of Lorie. She's been to church a few times in another area, and she's been to our Ward once before. But just this last time we visited her, she said she was interested in officially joining, and asked how she'd go about doing that. We gladly told her all she had to do was let us teach her the lessons and prepare for baptism that way. So it looks like we'll have a baptism soon!

The work is doing good, and really it seems more and more like baptisms don't come through your own efforts alone, and a lot of the time these new converts come from where you least expect it. It all just depends on how God puts them in your path.

And hey, I found another scripture worth memorizing... though maybe it's already in Seminary Scripture Mastery: Ether 12:6

And now, I, Moroni, would speak somewhat concerning these things; I would show unto the world that faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith.

Going to work as a missionary everyday, I feel, is an indication that you have faith that the Lord has some work for you to do. And as we continue in this work, keeping alert to God's hand in our lives, our faith will grow even more day by day.

Pictures!

Found a giant shopping cart while knocking, too! I believe it's a parade float

Found a minion while knocking doors!

Everyone's making memes, so I thought I'd hop on the bandwagon; This is a road we decided to try exploring, which is called Nowhere Lane... didn't realize they were being literal about it.

Love you all!
Thanks for reading!
