Letter from Tacoma #29: May 16, 2016
Everything going on back home sounds super exciting! There was a lot to read about this week, which I'm super thankful for. I got emails from Mom, Dad, Krista, Robin, and Ben, and I've found it's so much more fun when you get to see a big picture surrounding everybody else's lives.
Glad to see your first week has gone well, Ben! Though I'm surprised that Seattle has as much green up there as we do down here. I guess I just figured your mission was mostly city, seeing as your mission boudaries are so small. Seriously, I looked up your area's size and it's smaller than any of my past areas! The one I'm in now is about ten times as big!
But the most exciting part about this week is the fact that the Mission Temple Trip is tommorrow, and I'll be heading up to Seattle Temple tomorrow morning. But the absolute best part, I think personally, is that Ben says he's heading to the temple tomorrow as well. I'm gonna be keeping an eye out for him, and once I spot him, I'm gonna sneak up from behind and hung the crap out of him. I pray that Heavenly Father will grant me the opportunity to do so, because it will be hilarious and also a tender mercy to be able to see him after half a year! But here's to hoping!
Yeah, so this last week was very busy, and fairly productive as far as the work goes. We've been getting into contact with some of our investigators who fell off the radar for a little bit, and we've got an appointment with one of them for this Wednesday. Most of our investigators have been found just by going out and knocking doors, so it really works! Might not be very efficient, but hey, it does the job! But it's a lot easier when members help refer us to people they know, and there area quite a few members here who are willing to do that. People in general seem to be nicer out here in the boondocks.
but we also got to do a few fun things to break the monotomy of the day-in day-out work. Last Friday, Elder Jensen and I got to go help one of the older members, Bro. Burgin, dig up a pipe in his yard that apparently sprung a leak. Digging a hole is fun, but for the first part, I kind of held a deeper appreciation for how easy it is to dig in Minecraft. But then we hit clay around the pipe layer, which made it easier to dig up. The only problem with working with fluid pipes and dirt is that there's bound to be mud, and lots of it. I got to wear the rubber boots, so I was about in ankle deep wet clay while digging. Fun stuff! Service is actually vey enjoyable, even if it is a bit messy.
Also, yesterday night we ate at a member's house, and they're actually dog breeders by trade. They breed pure Boston Terriers, so they had three litters of these tiny little newborn pups, just born a couple days ago. They were super adorable, so I'm sad I hadn't brought my camera. but I'm sure if you google Boston Terrier Pups, it'll show you what they look like.
I need to get better at bringing my camera with me to different places. I'll be working on that. But for sure I'm bringing it tomorrow. I'm determined to catch a selfie with me and Ben!
