Letter from Tacoma #11: January 11, 2016

Woo! Week 11 is over, and heading into my last week as a trainee!

This week seemed kind of fast, but kind of slow at the same time.,. It was pretty fast at the beginning, but that's mostly because this last Tuesday I went on exchanges to Gig Harbor. Seriously, I had a blast then. After spending more than two months out in the boonies, where every house has a 1/2 mile long driveway and everyone living out here is a hermit that wants to keep to themselves, going out to an actual suburb area was quite the change.

It's laughable how when we drove into the city, I realized how much I missed the sight of buildings on every corner. Back in Key Center, you are constantly surrounded by trees, and wildlife, people with guns- woops, didn't mean for that one to come out. Heh heh... oh well, too lazy to delete.

Anyways, in Gig Harbor, we went tracting for 5-7's, and after knocking all the houses on one street, I thought we were done. But imagine my shock when I glanced down at my watch and realized that we still had a good hour and a half left! It was both disorienting and awesome at the same time! It astounded me that we could knock on so many doors and get rejected so many times within two hours; I was smiling the whole time!

Oh yeah, that also reminds me though, this Saturday is transfer calls! ... Wow, it's already been six weeks? It seems like just like last week I was wondering if I'd stay in Key Center for another month and a half. Time really does fly the farther you get into a mission. Watch, by the time I realize it's transfers again, I'll have been a year out already!😆
But that being said, I'm not sure if I'll be in Key Center for this next transfer, so just in case, please don't mail me anything this week. I'd rather not have any mail for me going to the house I'm no longer living in. But... Hansen and my Ward Mission leader say I'm probably staying, but just as many people say I'll be leaving Key Center. Personally, I hope I get transferred somewhere else. I've had enough time spent in the wild woods out here to last me a lifetime. I haven't been shot at yet, and I intend to keep it that way.

Please pray that I can travel elsewhere and do some work around the mission in other places! Not only that, but perhaps you could pray for me and Hansen. I've come down with a slight cough, which I don't believe is getting any worse, but Elder Hansen has got a chest cold and an ear infection, which was causing him a lot of pain last night. He's better this morning, but still feels little like crap.

Oh, but I can't even believe it! Just looking at the pictures from Mom's email, all the little kids seem so much bigger than I remember. It took me a while to even recognize Kaysen!!! What is this mysticality?!

Anyways, I'm continuing to do what I can out here!
I love you all!
Thanks for reading!
