Letter Home from the. MTC: October 23 2015

Hey, family!  How's life?

Thanks so much for all the letters and emails, and thanks Mom for the package of cinnamon rolls. Getting mail here is satisfying, though kind of weird sometimes. When I say weird, I mean just the formatting of everything. Like just today, Elder Henderson and I went a grabbed the mail for our district, and to my surprise, I find about thirteen letters for me. I was very excited. I thought just about everyone I knew wrote to me... that is, until I actually opened them. One was a card from Mom, and the rest were a giant letter Mom had written with the majority of it being Ryan and Kylie's letters. As far as I could tell, they were supposed to be separated into different letters, but all of them were like jigsaw pieces that cut out of the middle of a sentence spontaneously at the bottom of a page and continued on in a different letter. But don't worry, I found it kind of funny, and I'm glad to have a lot to read now on my spare time.

Oh, and again, thanks Mom for the cinnamon rolls, but you don't have to send me another package of goodies. My roommates and I have this giant box a group of Elders left us before they left for their mission earlier this week, and it's filled with junk food. I honestly feel fat just looking at it, so there's no need to add more to it.

Anyways, I'm glad to hear everything's going well back home. Sorry to hear about Kennady. I hope she heals soon. I laughed when I saw the picture of Kaysen burning marshmallows, such a cute, little arsonist.😆 And hope you have a good trip in China, Dad! Be safe!

I'll have to read up on what's going on with Kylie and Ryan, but that may take me two days at this rate. I've got about ten pages of letters to read, and I don't even have all of Ryan's yet. I'll have to check the mailbox again today to see if the staff here just left it out of the box 'cause it wouldn't fit. Though I'm not complaining, just like books, I think I like the physical letters better, something with mass that I can hold and keep with me at any time.

Anyways, being here in the MTC is fun... most of the time. There have been a lot of times when I've just stared at an open preach my gospel book instead of reading it because I was too dead to even focus on the words. Thankfully I haven't been like that when practice teaching investigators, so that's a good sign. Basically now that I've gotten a pretty good handle on missionary life and how to go about finding potential investigators, my district and i have made it to the home stretch.

The travel office has told us that our flight to Washington will be this Tuesday. Monday will be my last day here at the MTC, because the next morning my district will need to be up at about 3:00 AM to report to the travel office on time. From the paper they gave me, we'll be flying Delta to Seattle, where we'll be picked up, and our flight should be off at about 8:30 AM. I'm super excited, but I kind of wish the flight was longer than just an hour. Oh well.

Also, I think I heard when I reach my mission, my P-day will be Tuesday there, but don't quote me on that. That just so happens to be the day I get there, so what do you know?

I'm really excited to finally get out there, but a bit nervous as well. Hopefully I'll have a good trainer to show me the ropes of the area.

Anyways, I'm running out of time, so I'll leave this here,
Thanks for reading!
Love you all,

Elder R. Austin Moe
